About this game

Tennis strips the sport down to its essence: move your player, meet the ball, and send it back over the net into the court your opponent cannot reach. Miss the ball, hit the net, or send it out, and the point goes the other way. It is a clean back-and-forth rally that gets tenser with every exchange.

The skill is in positioning rather than power. Because you have to reach the ball before you can return it, the game is really about reading where it is going and being there in time. Good players are not the ones with the hardest shots but the ones who are always already standing where the ball is about to be.

Tips & strategy

Recover to the middle after every shot. Once you have hit the ball, your opponent can send it to either side, and standing in the centre gives you the shortest run to reach either one. Players who admire their own shot and stay put get wrong-footed by the reply.

Read the ball early, not late. The moment it leaves your opponent's side, start moving toward where it will land rather than waiting to see it arrive. That head start is the difference between a comfortable return and a desperate lunge.

Aim your returns away from your opponent, not just over the net. Sending the ball to the side they have just left forces them to cover the whole court, and stringing those together is how you open a gap to win the point.

Stay patient in long rallies. There is no need to go for a winner every shot; keeping the ball in play pressures your opponent into the mistake. Many points are lost by the player who tried too hard rather than won by the one who hit hardest.

Questions

How do I return the ball?

Move your player into the ball's path. Contact sends it back over the net, so positioning is everything.

What loses a point?

Missing the ball, hitting it into the net, or sending it out of the court.

Can I play a friend?

Yes, two-player mode lets you share one device.

Is power or position more important?

Position. Reaching the ball in good time matters far more than how hard you hit it.

Is there anything to install?

Completely free, with no trial and no unlock. Tennis loads with the page and plays immediately, without an install step or a video ad first.
