Paper Territory gives you a small patch of ground and a whole board to take. Drive out of your area leaving a trail behind you, loop back to your own territory, and everything enclosed becomes yours. While you are outside, that trail is your weak point.
The risk is entirely self-created. A tiny loop is safe and gains almost nothing; a sweeping run across the board is worth a great deal and leaves a long trail that anything can cross. Every expansion is a decision about how greedy to be.
Take small bites early. Several modest loops are far safer than one ambitious sweep, and territory compounds because each claim shortens your route out for the next one.
Never cross your own trail. Running into your own line ends the run instantly, which catches people out when they double back to close a loop.
Watch the enemies, not the ground you want. They move on fixed paths, so timing your excursion for when they are far away is worth more than any clever route.
Return the short way. Once you have enclosed something worthwhile, get back to your own territory immediately rather than extending the loop for a few extra cells.
By leaving your area, drawing a loop, and returning to your own ground. Everything enclosed becomes yours.
