Lava Escape is a climber with a deadline. You bounce upward automatically from platform to platform, but lava is rising below you and it never stops. Hesitate and it catches you; rush and you miss a landing. Either way you fall.
The rising hazard is what separates this from an ordinary vertical jumper. In most climbers you can wait for a good opportunity; here waiting is itself dangerous, so you are forced into taking jumps you would rather not, which is exactly what makes it tense.
Keep climbing even when the route looks awkward. Waiting for a comfortable jump lets the lava close the distance, and a risky jump taken early is usually safer than a safe one taken too late.
Look for the next two platforms, not just the next one. Planning a short chain keeps you moving upward continuously rather than stalling after every landing.
Steer during the rise. Adjusting on the way up gives the bounce time to carry you across, while correcting as you fall lands you on edges.
