Submarine takes you down through mined water in search of treasure. Steer around the mines drifting toward you and gather what you can. The deeper you go the more crowded the water becomes.
The pull between the two objectives is the whole game. Treasure sits in awkward places, often right beside a mine, so every collection is a decision about whether the gap is wide enough. Playing purely safe scores little; playing purely greedy ends quickly.
Plan a lane through the field rather than reacting mine by mine. Picking a route and making small adjustments is far safer than darting between hazards as they arrive.
Leave treasure that sits against a mine. One piece is worth very little against ending the dive, and the tempting ones are placed deliberately.
Move early and gently. Small corrections made in advance keep you in control, while sharp late swerves carry you into whatever is beside you.
Watch the far edge of the screen. That is where you learn what is coming, and by the time a mine is next to you the decision is already made.
