Slide Out gives you a grid crowded with blocks and one red block that needs to reach the right edge. Blocks only slide along their own axis, so a horizontal one never moves up or down. Clear the path and the red block escapes.
The puzzle is a small exercise in dependency. You cannot move the red block until something else moves, and that thing is usually blocked by a third. Working out the order in which pieces must clear is the whole game, and it is far more satisfying than it sounds.
Work backwards from the exit. Ask what is blocking the red block, then what is blocking that, and so on. Following the chain of dependencies is far more reliable than shuffling pieces and hoping.
Vertical blocks are the real obstacles. A horizontal block in the exit row can only be pushed aside along the same row, so the pieces that actually free the path are usually the vertical ones that must slide clear of it.
Make space before you need it. Moving a block into the only free area may solve the immediate problem and leave you nowhere to put the next one, so think about where each piece is going to end up.
Restart rather than flailing. Every board is solvable, so if you have shuffled for twenty moves without progress, the plan is wrong rather than the puzzle.
Only along their own axis. Horizontal blocks slide left and right; vertical ones slide up and down.
Yes. Boards are chosen by searching backwards from the solved position, so a solution always exists and always needs at least eight moves.
They typically need around fifteen moves, with some reaching the low twenties.
It is the same style of sliding block puzzle, played on a six by six grid.
