Shape Fit gives you a grid and a small supply of block shapes. Place them anywhere they fit, and complete a full row or column to clear it. There is no falling and no time pressure, so the only thing that ends the game is running out of room for the pieces you are given.
That absence of a timer is exactly what makes it demanding. You can think as long as you like, which means every game you lose is a game you thought your way into. The board fills through a series of small decisions that each seemed reasonable, and reconstructing where it went wrong is oddly compelling.
Keep the middle clear and fill from the edges. Central space is the most flexible, since large pieces need room in every direction. Building outward from the sides preserves that flexibility for as long as possible.
Look at all your available pieces before placing any of them. Placing the easy one first often leaves nowhere for the awkward one, and you have to fit them all. Plan the difficult piece first.
Do not chase single-row clears. Setting up a placement that completes two lines at once is worth far more, and holding out for it costs you nothing since there is no clock.
Watch for the shapes you cannot use. If a large square piece appears and you have no three-by-three gap anywhere, the game is already close to over. Always keep one region open that can take your biggest piece.
