Tips & strategy
Wait for the tell. The warning appears before every attack, so a fighter who watches rather than swings takes far less damage. Throwing punches at random simply leaves you open when the real attack lands.
Counter immediately after defending. The window right after your opponent's attack is when they are exposed, and that is the moment worth attacking. Punching at any other time mostly misses.
Do not panic when you are hurt. Damage tempts players into wild swinging, which is exactly what loses the round. Returning to the read-and-counter rhythm is the way back into a fight, even when you are behind.
An early punch costs nothing but a wasted moment. Missing is not penalised directly, but every swing you make while an attack is coming is a moment you were not defending.
