Marble Shooter sends a chain of coloured marbles crawling along a spiral toward the hole at its end. You sit in the middle firing marbles into the line, and any run of three or more of the same colour vanishes. Let the chain reach the end and it is over.
The genre works because the pressure never stops. Unlike a match-three grid where you can think as long as you like, the chain keeps moving while you aim, so every shot is a compromise between the best move and the one you can make right now.
Break up long runs of one colour early. A chain with six identical marbles together is a gift, but only if you reach it before it crawls past; ignoring it means firing that colour into a worse position later.
Shoot into the middle of a pair, not the end. Inserting between two matching marbles clears immediately, while adding to the outside of a pair often leaves you one short.
Watch the front of the chain. The marbles nearest the hole are the urgent ones, and clearing at the back does nothing to buy you time.
Fire away the colours you cannot use. If your next marble matches nothing reachable, shooting it into empty space is better than forcing it into a spot that blocks a future match.
A run of three or more of the same colour disappears when your shot completes it.
