Kite Flying is about reading the wind. Hold left or right to steer the line and guide your kite upward through gusts and gaps. There is no throttle and no jump button, only the steady pull of the air and the small corrections you make to work with it.
It has the unhurried quality that real kite flying has. You are not fighting the wind so much as negotiating with it, and the highest flights come from smooth adjustments rather than sharp yanks on the line. It suits a calmer mood than most of the arcade games here.
Steer gently. Sharp corrections make the kite lurch and lose height, while small steady adjustments keep it climbing. This is one of the few games here where being calmer is measurably better.
Work with the wind rather than against it. When a gust pushes you sideways, riding it briefly and correcting afterwards costs less height than fighting it head on.
Look up the screen. The gaps and obstacles above you determine where you need to be, and by the time something is level with the kite it is too late to steer around it.
Do not overcorrect after a wobble. The instinct is to yank the other way, which usually produces a bigger wobble. Ease back toward centre and let the kite settle.
By steering smoothly through the gaps and letting the wind carry you, rather than fighting it.
Crashing into an obstacle. Your height at that point is your score.
Usually from over-steering. Gentle held corrections work far better than rapid changes.
