Golf Solitaire lays out seven short columns and asks you to clear them onto a single waste pile. Take any exposed card one rank above or below the current waste card, and it becomes the new target. Runs build quickly and the whole board can disappear in a satisfying cascade.
The rule that gives the game its difficulty is that ranks do not wrap. An ace is a dead end below a two, and a king is a dead end above a queen, so both extremes stop a run cold. Knowing when to spend a stock card rather than push a run into a dead end is the whole skill.
Plan the run before you start it. Several cards may be playable, but only one continues into another, and taking the wrong one first can cut a six-card run down to two.
Avoid stranding aces and kings. Because ranks do not wrap, a king can only be taken from a queen and an ace only from a two, so leaving them buried is how boards fail.
Dig into the deepest columns. Cards near the bottom block the most, and clearing them opens far more options than tidying the shallow columns.
Hold the stock back. Each card you turn is one fewer chance later, so exhaust every board move before reaching for it.
Any exposed card one rank above or below the waste card. Ranks do not wrap.
Because ranks do not wrap in Golf, which is what makes those two ranks so awkward.
No. Golf deals are randomly shuffled and many cannot be fully cleared.
By how few cards you leave behind.
No. Golf Solitaire runs entirely inside this page, so it starts the moment the page opens. There is nothing to download, no plugin, and no account to create.
