About this game

Gold Miner is the game of the swinging claw and the ticking clock. A hook swings back and forth across the bottom of the screen, and you drop it at just the right moment to snag the gold, gems and the occasional rock buried below. Hit your target score before time runs out and you move on. It is one decision, repeated under pressure, and it is oddly gripping.

The tension comes entirely from weight and timing. Heavy nuggets take an age to reel in, tying up your claw while the clock burns, and a mistimed grab hauls up a worthless rock instead. Deciding what is worth going for, and what to leave, is the difference between clearing a level and running out of time inches from your goal.

Tips & strategy

Grab the small, high-value gems first. They reel in almost instantly, banking points without eating your clock. Diamonds are the priority: light, fast and valuable. Building a lead early gives you the freedom to gamble on a slow big nugget later.

Think before going for the biggest gold. A large nugget is worth a lot but takes so long to pull up that it can swallow a third of your time. Only commit to it if you are ahead of schedule, and never as your last grab if the clock is tight.

Time the swing, not the object. The claw releases from wherever it is pointing at the moment you tap, and it moves fastest at the bottom of its arc. Release a fraction before the claw lines up with your target so it arrives just as the hook reaches it.

Leave the rocks unless they block something. Stone is heavy and nearly worthless, so grabbing one wastes both your claw and your time. The only reason to take a rock is if it sits between you and something you actually want on repeated swings.

Questions

How do I score?

By hauling up gold and gems with the claw before the timer ends, reaching the level's target score.

Why is my claw so slow sometimes?

Heavier objects reel in more slowly. A big gold nugget can tie up the claw for several seconds.

Are rocks worth grabbing?

Rarely. They are heavy and low-value, so they mostly waste time unless they are in your way.

What happens when time runs out?

The level ends. If you hit the target score you continue, otherwise the run is over.
