Color Order hides a sequence of four colours and asks you to work it out. After each guess you are told how many you placed exactly right and how many are the right colour in the wrong position. From that alone you narrow it down.
The two kinds of feedback are what make it a real deduction puzzle rather than guesswork. A guess scoring nothing at all is enormously informative, because it eliminates every colour you used from the entire sequence. Learning to value those apparent failures is the key insight.
Open with four different colours. A varied first guess tells you which colours are in play at all, which is far more useful than testing positions before you know the palette.
Treat a zero-score guess as a win. If nothing matches, you have eliminated four colours in one move, which narrows the puzzle more than most positive results do.
Change one thing at a time when you are close. If a guess scores well, swap a single pair or replace one colour. Then any change in the feedback tells you exactly what that one difference caused.
Track what you have ruled out. Writing off colours and positions as you go prevents you from re-testing combinations you have already disproved, which is where attempts get wasted.
One counts colours that are correct and in the right place; the other counts colours that are in the sequence but positioned wrongly.
