Tips & strategy
Do not aim straight down the middle for a strike. Hitting the front pin dead centre tends to leave the corner pins standing. The reliable strike comes from striking slightly off-centre, into what bowlers call the pocket, so the pins cascade into each other.
Control your power rather than hurling the ball. Too much speed and the pins scatter without knocking their neighbours down; too little and they barely move. A firm, controlled roll spreads the impact through the whole set far better than a wild one.
When you leave pins after the first roll, aim honestly for the spare. Clearing what is left is worth more over a game than gambling for a spectacular pin. A steady stream of spares beats a mix of strikes and gutters.
Watch which pins you tend to leave and adjust your aim a fraction the other way. If corner pins keep surviving on one side, your line is slightly off, and a small correction each frame is what turns near-misses into strikes.
