Fruit Slice tosses fruit up from the bottom of the screen and asks you to swipe across it. Bombs are mixed in among the fruit and end the run instantly, and fruit that falls back down unsliced costs you a life.
The tension comes from those two failure modes pulling in opposite directions. Swiping wildly catches everything and eventually catches a bomb; swiping carefully avoids bombs and lets fruit escape. Finding the pace between them is the game.
Slice in short deliberate strokes. Long frantic swipes across the whole screen will eventually cross a bomb, and one bomb ends everything you have built.
Let single fruit reach the top. Fruit is easiest to hit at the peak of its arc where it is briefly almost still, and waiting there is safer than chasing it upward.
Watch for bombs before you commit. They are visually distinct, so a quarter-second of looking before each swipe costs one fruit at most and saves the run.
Accept losing a life occasionally. Three lives exist so you can let an awkward fruit go, and forcing a dangerous swipe to save one is usually a worse trade.
The run ends immediately, regardless of how many lives you have.
